This Code of Conduct has been prepared by Whitelion to govern the behaviour and conduct of all Participants, Actors, Event Staff and Volunteers in relation to the Bail Out.
All Participants, Actors, Event Staff and Volunteers agree to abide, and be bound, by the Code of Conduct.
- Who does this Code of Conduct apply to?
1.1 This Code of Conduct applies to Actors, Event Staff, Volunteers and Participants in relation to the Bail Out held in Western Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania, South Australia and Victoria as set out below:
(a) Actor means any person engaged by or on behalf of Whitelion in the Bail Out to:
(i) perform a fictional role, including as a policeman, guard, barrister, judge or inmate; or
(ii) make a presentation or deliver a speech to any Participants.
(b) Event Staff means any person engaged by or on behalf of Whitelion as an employee or contractor to facilitate, coordinate, assist, promote, advertise, broadcast, direct or otherwise be involved in the Bail Out.
(c) Volunteer means any person who freely offers and undertakes to facilitate, coordinate, assist, promote, advertise, broadcast, direct or otherwise be involved in the Bail Out.
(d) Participant means any person who has completed the registration form, whether as an individual or group, and who participates in the Bail Out in a role that is not as an Actor or as Event Staff.
1.2 This Code of Conduct applies to all Actors, Event Staff, Volunteers and Participants from the moment of arrival until the moment of departure from the Bail Out.
- What is Acceptable Behaviour during the Bail Out?
2.1 All Actors, Event Staff, Volunteers and Participants must act throughout the course of the Bail Out in a courteous and respectful manner at all times (Acceptable Behaviour).
2.2 All Actors and Participants must comply with all reasonable directions, instructions or requests by Event Staff.
- What is Unacceptable Behaviour during the Bail Out?
3.1 All Actors, Event Staff, Volunteers and Participants must not engage or in any way be involved in any Unacceptable Behaviour at any time throughout the course of the Bail Out.
3.2 Unacceptable Behaviour includes, without limitation:
(a) any offensive comments (verbal, written, or otherwise) related to any of gender, sexual orientation, race, religion or disability;
(b) any intimidation, threats, annoyance, harassment, stalking, pushing, shoving or use of any inappropriate physical contact whatsoever against any person;
(c) any boisterous, lewd or offensive behaviour or language, including use of any sexually explicit or offensive language, materials or conduct;
(d) the possession or use of illicit drugs;
(e) excessive drinking of alcohol or intoxication;
(f) engaging or attempting to engage in any sexual activity or conduct; and
(g) any repeated disruption (whether verbal or otherwise) of presentations, talks or other events.
3.3 All Actors, Event Staff, Volunteers and Participants must immediately comply with any instruction or direction by Whitelion to stop engaging or being involved in any Unacceptable Behaviour.
3.4 If any Actor, Event Staff, Volunteer or Participant is the subject of, observer of, or is informed of any Unacceptable Behaviour, or has any concerns as to whether or not Unacceptable Behaviour may be happening during the course of the Bail Out, they must as soon as reasonably practicable notify Ben King.
3.5 If any Actor, Event Staff, Volunteer or Participant engages or is involved in any Unacceptable Behaviour, Whitelion may in its sole and absolute discretion exclude that Actor, Event Staff, Volunteer or Participant from the Bail Out and prevent that Actor, Event Staff, Volunteer or Participant from further participating in that Bail Out or any other Bail Outs.
- Safe Word
4.1 If any Actor, Event Staff, Volunteer or Participant feels in any way uncomfortable, intimidated or threatened at any time during the course of the Bail Out and wishes to stop what they are doing, they can say the Safe Word, “Cool It”.
4.2 If any Actor, Event Staff, Volunteer or Participant says the Safe Word (the Safe Word User), then:
(a) all other Actors, Event Staff, Volunteers or Participants participating, observing, or in any way involved in the activity with the Safe Word User must immediately stop what they are doing;
(b) a member of Event Staff (who must not be the subject of the use of the Safe Word) will as soon as reasonably practicable remove the Safe Word User from the relevant activity and take them to Ben King (the Safe Word Officer).
(c) the Safe Word Officer must as soon as reasonably practicable assess:
(i) whether or not the Safe Word User should re-join the Bail Out or discontinue the Bail Out, reasonably taking into account the Safe Word User’s views; and
(ii) whether or not the Actor, Event Staff, Volunteer or Participant the subject of the use of the Safe Word engaged in Unacceptable Behaviour, and, if so, take the action referred to in clause 3.5 above.
- Alcohol, smoking and illicit drugs
5.1 No alcohol or illicit drugs are to be brought to the Bail Out by any Actors, Event Staff (except those responsible for the official supply of alcohol by Whitelion for the Parole Party), Volunteers or Participants.
5.2 Except at the Parole Party, no alcohol is to be consumed by any Actors, Event Staff, Volunteers or Participants during the course of the Bail Out and in such a case only in moderation at the absolute discretion of Event Staff responsible for the service of alcohol at the Parole Party.
5.3 All Actors, Event Staff, Volunteers or Participants are only permitted to smoke during the course of the Bail Out in the designated smoking areas marked out by Event Staff.
5.4 Breach of any of clauses 5.1 to 5.3 will result in immediate exclusion from the Bail Out of the person whom has breached the relevant clauses/s at the sole and absolute discretion of Whitelion.
- Other matters
6.1 This Code of Conduct may be altered or amended at any time by Whitelion in its sole and absolute discretion without any notice.
6.2 If any dispute arises in respect of the interpretation of the Code of Conduct, the decision of Whitelion is final and binding.
