Melbourne

Friday 26th May

Melbourne is where the award winning Bail Out all started back in 2006. The event has now grown into a truly national campaign and is run across 5 states throughout the month of May.  The City Watch House and Old Melbourne Goal are iconic venues that set the stage for a high quality unique event.

Your time as a Bail Out inmate will expose you to life on the inside with activities that simulate prison life. Upon arrival, inmates are stripped of all possessions, given an inmate uniform, fingerprinted, photographed then taken to the main exercise yard where they will be fed prison gruel. Re-enactments of cases are heard in the Old Magistrate’s Court before inmates are sentenced to some cell time with their gang or other solitary inmates.

Register for Bail Out and have experience that you will never forget.

A minimum of $1,000 (per person) must be raised to secure release.

About the Old Melbourne Gaol

When the Old Melbourne Gaol was built in the mid-1800s, it dominated the Melbourne skyline as a symbol of authority.  Inside the Gaol, dangerous criminals were held alongside petty offenders, the homeless and the mentally ill.  Between 1842 and its closure in 1929 the gaol was the scene of 133 hangings including Australia’s most infamous citizen, the bushranger Ned Kelly.  The prison was often overcrowded and was an extremely dark and difficult place for any inmate
